Bogut “No Longer The One” In Milwaukee?
According to 1500ESPN, Milwaukee is shopping center Andrew Bogut and pick No. 10 for Minnesota’s second overall pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft:
Multiple sources say the Wolves and Milwaukee Bucks have talked about a trade, with the main pieces being No. 2 for No. 10 and center Andrew Bogut. It’s believed Milwaukee initiated those talks, probably because there is some uncertainty about Bogut’s long-term health. He broke his right hand, dislocated his elbow and sprained his wrist in a nasty fall in April 2010 against Phoenix.
At first glance, you would wonder why the Bucks would trade, arguably, their best player. Now you know; it’s primarily because of health concerns. Still, an injury-prone Bogut is a big piece to consider moving.
If the Bucks decide to keep Bogut and the tenth overall draft choice, they will more than likely use it on Colorado guard Alec Burks.
Alec Burks is unlikely to get past the Milwaukee Bucks at No. 10. Although they are bringing in Marshon Brooks on Monday for a second look, he would have to be overwhelmingly incredible to change the minds of the Bucks front office. They intend on drafting Burks if he’s available.
The rumor coming from The Hoops Report, if true, would greatly benefit Brandon Jennings. With Burks, “Zoom” would be allowed to play off the ball more.
Things would open up for Jennings as both a scorer and playmaker, therefore, giving the team a more efficient offense as they preserve the young and electrifying point guard.
While you would like to see the Bucks go for a talent like Williams, why not hold on to Bogut and add a player who might possess better pro potential than the Arizona ‘tweener.
“It’s basically laughable,” according to a Milwaukee official. I know, right?
Bucks GM John Hammond on the trade reports headlining Bogut:
“There’s no truth to any of these false rumors that have been reported,” Hammond said.
Hammond said the Bucks “have not” talked with the Timberwolves about a deal.
